The facts
Thousands of Israelis rallied in Tel Aviv's Hostages Square on Saturday, three days before the country's general election, demanding an independent inquiry into the security failures preceding the October 7, 2023 attacks. The October Council, an organization founded by families of captives taken to Gaza, organized the protest. The group claims the government failed to prevent the Hamas attack. Opposition figures Gadi Eisenkot and Yair Golan attended the rally. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's coalition government has rejected calls for an independent commission, proposing instead a political commission appointed by lawmakers. Opposition leaders stated they would boycott such a commission. Polls indicate a close race between Netanyahu's bloc and Eisenkot's. The October Council also alerted law enforcement to potential provocations from pro-government agitators.
Our take
Thousands of Israelis didn’t show up in Tel Aviv for the fucking weather. They hauled ass to Hostages Square to scream into the void that is Benjamin Netanyahu’s accountability, demanding an independent inquiry into the catastrophic security failures that let Hamas waltz in and start a war. Three days before an election, because nothing says ‘democratic process’ like a last-minute scramble to pretend you give a shit about the dead and captured. The October Council, the families of the actual fucking victims, organized this. Not some opposition PR stunt. The people whose loved ones were kidnapped or slaughtered because Bibi’s government was too busy jerking itself off over judicial reforms to guard the fucking border. And what is the coalition’s response to this monumental, blood-soaked failure? To reject a real inquiry and propose a ‘political commission’ appointed by the same lawmakers who napped through the warnings. It’s like asking the arsonist to investigate the fire, if the arsonist was also a smug, corrupt prick with terrible hair. Opposition leaders, showing a spine for once, said they’d boycott this farce. Good. Let Bibi’s appointed clowns write their own exoneration on official stationery. It’ll match the fantasyland he’s been governing from for years. Meanwhile, the October Council had to alert cops about potential provocations from pro-government agitators. Because when you can’t answer for your failures, the next move is always to send your dickhead supporters to shout down the grieving. Polls show a close race. Maybe the voters finally see the man behind the curtain: a desperate, legacy-obsessed cunt who thinks a commission of his own yes-men is a suitable monument to the people he failed. The only inquiry needed is why this arrogant asshole hasn’t been shown the door already. Fuck his political commission. The people in the square are the real jury. And they look pissed as hell. End of story. Fuck him. Fuck his excuses. Fuck this whole pathetic, bloody circus he calls a government. The bill is due, Bibi. Pay up in votes. Or get the fuck out. The adults want their country back. You had your turn. You blew it. Literally. Now sit down and shut the fuck up.
