We fucked up.
Here’s the fix.
Getting something wrong is embarrassing. Hiding it is worse. We do the embarrassing part in public.
How we fix mistakes
- Factual errors get corrected in the story itself, with a dated correction note explaining what was wrong and what is right now. The note stays there.
- Typos, broken links and grammar get fixed without a note. If the meaning changes, it gets a note.
- A story that changes after publication shows an Updated time under the byline, so you can tell it is not the version you read yesterday.
- If a story is wrong at its core, we say so at the top and leave it up as a record rather than pretending it never ran.
- We do not change a fact because someone powerful got their feelings hurt. We change it because the evidence says so.
Report an error
Email contact@offensivenews.com with the story link, the exact line you think is wrong, and the evidence. A document beats an opinion. Insults are fine. Insults with a source are better.
