The facts
The United States sued the Board of Education of Anne Arundel County in the District of Maryland on October 27, 2026, in case No. 1:26-cv-04499. The complaint alleges that Anne Arundel County Public Schools, known as AACPS, violates the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act and the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment by facilitating the secret transitioning of children's gender identity at school without their parents' knowledge or consent, and it asks the court to declare the scheme unlawful and enjoin it.
According to the complaint, AACPS policies direct staff to solicit and document gender-related information from students without parental knowledge or consent, to memorialize a student's social transition in education records, and to obscure or withhold that information from parents. Staff may restrict or exclude parental involvement based solely on a unilateral claim of a safety concern, with no process for parents to rebut that claim, and AACPS reports students' gender-identity information to the Maryland State Department of Education without giving parents any notice or opportunity to know what information is being shared about their children. The complaint further alleges that Regulation JQ-RA provides that a student's self-identification is sufficient to change the student's gender in the official student record, without describing any corresponding process by which a parent may be notified of the change or may challenge, correct, or supplement it, and that a principal or the principal's designee may limit parental involvement based on a subjective, unilateral determination of a genuine safety concern.
The complaint tells the story of one family, the Does, and alleges the following. On December 10, 2025, the Does received an email from an AACPS staff member concerning a classroom lab experiment that referred to their daughter by a male name that is not her legal name. A second email said the staff member had attempted to recall the first, a third substituted the legal name, and a fourth claimed the original had been sent “to the wrong addresses.” When pressed, the staff member admitted to lying in the emails and disclosed that the daughter had asked to be referred to by the male name. The staff member explained that, at the start of the semester, the staff member had individually asked each student for a preferred name and, separately, held one-on-one meetings with students to discuss preferred pronouns, including with the daughter, without involving parents in either process, and stated that AACPS policy permitted this practice.
The Does then directed the staff member and later the assistant principal to refer to their daughter only by her legal name and pronouns consistent with her sex, and requested the policy, the format used, and any record of the daughter's responses. The assistant principal responded that law and AACPS policy, specifically Regulation JQ-RA, required staff to honor the stated preference, declined to produce the requested records, and said further objections should go to AACPS's Central Office. On May 1, 2026, the Does received an email sent to all parents of students attending an off-campus field trip, attaching a roster organized by chaperone group. Their daughter's legal name did not appear on the roster; instead, the same male name used in December 2025 appeared alongside the Does' surname. The staff member first claimed the daughter had been omitted by accident and that the male name belonged to an unrelated student who happened to share the Does' surname, then admitted no such other student existed and that the roster entry in fact referred to their daughter.
On June 6, 2026, the principal denied the refund request, confirmed that Regulation JQ-RA required staff to honor the stated preference, and explained that the regulation's reference to “working with parents” meant only that staff could help families navigate conversations, not that parental notice or consent was required. As to the records request, the principal stated that the Does could schedule an appointment to review education records under FERPA, but that internal emails, personal notes, or other staff communications would require appropriate legal process, “including a subpoena where applicable.” The complaint says, on information and belief, that the principal's position on parental record access reflects AACPS's general practice for requests touching on a student's gender identity, and is not limited to this family's requests.
Our take
Let's get one thing straight about the absolute fucking ghouls running Anne Arundel County Public Schools: their idea of 'working with parents' is telling you to go fuck yourself with a subpoena. That's the punchline here. After a year of secret one-on-one pronoun meetings, a paper trail of bald-faced lies, and a policy that treats parents like a fucking security threat, the final answer to a family asking what the hell is going on with their own child was, essentially, 'Sue us, cunts.' Not an apology. Not transparency. A legal threat. That's the caliber of cowardice we're dealing with. These bureaucratic dickheads would rather get sued by the United States Department of Justice than let a mom read a teacher's email. Think about that level of arrogant, taxpayer-funded shitheadedness. They built a whole clandestine operation around kids' identities, documented it, reported it to the state, and then told the parents who paid for the whole goddamn circus that the backstage pass requires a judge's signature. It's not a school district; it's a secret police force for puberty, and you need a warrant to check its notes. The lying is the beautiful part, though. It's so fucking pathetic it loops back to being art. First, the email was sent to the wrong address. Bullshit. Then, the wrong name on the field trip roster belonged to some other mystery kid with the exact same last name. More bullshit. They invented two whole fictional students just to avoid saying, 'Your daughter asked us to call her something else.' What a pack of sniveling, dishonest little weasels. They're not educators; they're con artists running a shell game with a child's identity, and the shells are made of policy memos and subpoena recommendations. The principle is clear: the state gets the data, the school gets the control, and the parents get to hire a lawyer if they want the truth. It's a perfect, petty tyranny - the kind exercised by middling administrators who get a hard-on from hiding behind 'Regulation JQ-RA' because it's the only power they'll ever have. They're not protecting kids; they're playing fucking espionage with children's lives to feel important, and when caught, their final defense is to cite the rule that says you can't see the rulebook unless you bring a court order. It's a closed loop of bureaucratic masturbation, and the mess they're leaving is a family's trust and a federal lawsuit. Absolute cunts.
