The facts
On September 3, 2026, the Ig Nobel Prizes were handed out in Zurich. First time the ceremony left the United States. PBS said the organizers moved it over visa worries.
The chemistry prize went to researchers who studied milk proteins from Diploptera punctata, a Pacific beetle cockroach that gives live birth. The Scientist reported those crystals pack more than three times the energy of cow-milk proteins. Winners showed up in cockroach hats. The team included Indian scientists, among others.
Other prizes, per Scientific American and PBS: a definition of kissing that covers ants and polar bears. A team that buried 1,000 pairs of underwear in more than 25 countries to watch soil eat them. Work suggesting richer people are more likely to behave badly, including taking candy meant for children. A late Japanese doctor on the aerodynamics of blowing your nose.
The awards, run by Annals of Improbable Research, are for science that makes you laugh, then think. They have no relation to the actual Nobel.
Our take
A live-bearing roach lactates crystals denser than dairy, and a room full of adults in Switzerland clapped. That is the good version of science. Also the disgusting version. Both can be true.
The chemistry team had Indian researchers on it. Jeets, if you want the slur. The joke writes itself: the West spent a century trying to get India to drink cow milk, and the lab came back with roach titty. We are not saying they drink it. We are saying if anyone was going to try, the people who just won a prize for measuring it are at the front of the line, retard.
The rest of the night was buried underpants, rich people nicking kids' candy, and a kiss definition that includes insects. The ceremony fled America because the visa line is a joke. Paper airplanes at a mushroom-foot trophy. If this is what "laugh then think" looks like, keep it. Just do not put it in my coffee.
