The facts

Russian tech giant Yandex said Ukrainian drones hit two of its five data centres within two days. The Sasovo centre in the Ryazan region was “seriously damaged” by a drone attack overnight into Thursday and its operations were “completely suspended”. A second strike on Friday morning damaged part of the Kaluga centre, southwest of Moscow, taking part of its infrastructure “out of service”. Yandex stressed the critical role of these sites for its search, food‑ordering and taxi apps and said it could not predict when full service would resume. The company confirmed no employees were injured, while the Kaluga regional governor reported nine civilian injuries. Yandex told state news agency TASS that some AI chatbot functions and smart‑home devices may be temporarily unavailable.

Our take

Well, shit. The state‑adjacent titan of Russian tech, Yandex, just got its digital colonoscopy performed by Ukrainian drones, and the prognosis is a catastrophic case of blown‑out server racks. The company’s big fucking reveal? It is experiencing ‘difficulties.’ No surprise, you useless pricks. Two of your five critical data centres turned into modern art installations overnight, and now you’re whining that it’s ‘difficult to predict’ when your “Russia’s Google” cosplay will be back online. One centre in Sasovo is completely fucked – total suspension. The other in Kaluga had its guts ripped out the next morning. That’s a 40% catastrophic failure rate from two strikes, you arrogant cunts. So much for redundancy. So much for being the indispensable backbone of national search and taxi‑hailing. Your ‘critical’ infrastructure has the structural integrity of a wet paper bag in a hurricane. And for what? So some Muscovite’s smart kettle might not respond when he asks his AI chatbot, now offline, how to make tea? Fucking poetry. Yandex confirmed no employees were turned into pink mist – the only competent thing they’ve managed – while nine civilians were hurt in Kaluga. Their big solution? Teams are ‘working around the clock.’ Great. A legion of underpaid techs staring at smoldering rubble, trying to plug a nation’s internet dependency back into a wall socket that doesn’t exist anymore. Zelensky called it payback for Russian strikes on Ukrainian data centres, and Ukraine’s defence ministry said the goal is to force Russia to waste money and manpower fixing this shit. Judging by Yandex’s pathetic, vague mewling, mission fucking accomplished. The whole episode is a masterclass in the fragility of vanity. You build an empire on being the local Google, and it all goes tits up because you couldn’t defend two buildings from drones. Now get back to your ‘round‑the‑clock’ work, you absolute failures. Maybe your next press release can be handwritten and delivered by one of your now‑idle taxi drivers, since the app is probably down too. Cunts.
