World Leaders Panic as Ancient PHP Code Tries to Fuck Everyone

Governments yank their pants down and scramble to patch websites after AI finds catastrophic holes in the crusty old programming language.

The facts

Authorities in multiple countries took government websites offline or applied security patches due to critical vulnerabilities discovered in the PHP programming language. The U.S. National Security Agency issued a warning, advising organizations to update PHP or take websites offline. Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Finland, and the Czech Republic reported shutting down websites as a precaution. Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi also warned about the risk on social media. The vulnerabilities, named PHP2Shell, were discovered with the assistance of artificial intelligence models. Security firms Calif and Wiz reported the flaws on August 11 and August 24, respectively. The PHP Foundation described the flaws as among the most severe encountered, enabling attackers to remotely run commands on servers using old PHP code without authorization. The foundation warned that AI could make finding similar weaknesses easier.

Our take

Well, shit. It turns out the digital backbone of half the fucking internet is held together by the programming equivalent of used gum and prayer. PHP, that crusty old code grandpa, has been sitting there with its security fly wide open, and now the entire world’s governments are running around with their thumbs up their asses, desperately trying to hide their websites from the coming storm. The U.S. National Security Agency, those legendary cyber-wizards, had to send out a memo essentially saying, Hey dipshits, maybe unplug it for a second? What a brilliant strategy from the agency that probably spends billions listening to your vibrator. Germany, France, Belgium - the whole Euro-nerd brigade - just started flipping switches to ‘off.’ Not a fix, just a nationwide ‘nope.’ The Czechs probably just put a ‘Back Soon’ GIF on a Geocities page. The pinnacle of this global clown show was Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi taking to social media to warn her people. Madam Prime Minister, your urgent civic duty is now retweeting a PHP vulnerability alert. What a time to be alive. And how were these earth-shattering flaws found? By asking a fucking robot. Security firms had to get AI to do the code review because apparently no human could be paid enough to stare into that abyss. The PHP Foundation itself called it some of the worst shit they’ve ever seen, which is like the captain of the Titanic saying, ‘Yeah, this is a pretty big leak.’ Their final, chilling warning? AI will now make finding these fuck-ups easier. Great. So the tool that built this rickety shit-stack is now the same one that’s going to tear it all down. The entire web is a haunted house built on a buggy foundation, and the ghosts have just been handed a master key by a chatbot. What a beautiful, stupid way for civilization to end: not with a bang, but with a PHP script executing remotely. Update your servers, you pricks. Or just unplug the whole thing and go outside. It’s fucked out there anyway. 307 words. Fact packet: 196 words. Total: 503 words.
