Water Companies Are Flushing Billions Down the Shitter While Rivers Turn to Sewage

Regulators' damning report reveals industry's environmental performance is pure, unadulterated shit.

The facts

A joint report by four regulators in England and Wales found that the environmental performance of water companies worsened in the past year, despite significant investment. Eight out of nine water companies in England received ratings of "poor" or "requiring improvement" for their environmental targets, with only Severn Trent achieving the highest rating. While companies were commended for reducing service disruptions, serious pollution incidents remained a major concern, at levels similar to previous years. The chair of the environmental regulator, Alan Lovell, expressed anger and disappointment, stating the industry falls "well short of the standards rightly demanded." The Environment Agency noted that overall, England's water companies were awarded 16 out of 36 stars for environmental performance, the worst total on record. Water UK acknowledged that performance is not good enough for some companies but pointed to blockages and vandalism as contributing factors. Despite £5 billion invested over the last five years, not all companies have delivered the environmental improvement schemes they were funded for, according to Lovell.

Our take

Well, fuck me sideways with a rusty pipe. It turns out that dumping £5 billion into our water infrastructure over five years has achieved the same environmental outcome as setting that cash on fire and pissing on the ashes. The latest regulatory report is a masterclass in corporate piss-taking, with eight of nine English water companies rated as either 'poor' or 'requiring improvement.' The only exception, Severn Trent, is the lone cunt not actively shitting in the punchbowl this quarter. A stunning achievement, really. The chair of the environmental regulator is 'angry and disappointed,' which is the polite regulatory way of saying he's ready to skull-fuck every boardroom with a copy of their own bullshit promises. They've managed to score a record-low 16 out of 36 stars. That's not a performance rating; it's the review you'd give a restaurant that served you a turd garnished with a dead fish. And what's the industry's defense? Oh, the classic 'blockages and vandalism' wank. Because apparently, multi-billion-pound utilities are as helpless as a toddler when faced with a rogue wet wipe. They took the money, they failed to deliver the improvement schemes they were funded for, and now they're pointing fingers at mythical vandals and fatbergs. It's a staggering level of grifter cowardice. These companies are like a gang of incompetent plumbers who flooded your house, billed you for a gold-plated wrench, and then blamed your cat for the leak. The only thing they've successfully diluted is their own accountability, straight into a river of their own making. Absolute fucking clowns, the lot of them. Next time they ask for a rate hike to fund 'improvements,' tell them to go suck a drainage culvert dry. They've already proven they're only good at one thing: turning investment into effluent. Cunts. End of. End of pipe. End of story. End of any fucking credibility they had left. It's a shit show, and we're all swimming in it.
