The facts
On October 4, 2025, a crash on Interstate 4 near DeBary, Florida, killed three people. Investigators used Flock Safety license-plate cameras and focused on a black Dodge Durango registered to Lindsey Brooke Isaacs, then 23, about three miles from the scene.
Florida Highway Patrol arrested her on April 17, 2026, and charged her with eight felonies, including three counts of vehicular homicide. She spent 13 days in jail. Her lawyer told NewsNation the car had no crash damage. A 911 caller had described a maroon Durango. A time-and-distance analysis said she could not have been at the site.
Prosecutors dropped the charges on May 22 and arrested Alisa Lee Montalvo, whose maroon Durango, outlets reported, matched the original description and had damage. Montalvo has not been convicted. Isaacs is suing. Sen. Josh Hawley cited her case in a letter to Flock.
Our take
A plate reader said Durango. She is a woman with a Durango. Three people are dead. The cop brain does the rest. Women drivers. Close enough. Book her.
That is not a reconstruction. That is the joke the investigation accidentally told. Witnesses said maroon. Her SUV was black. No crumple, no paint transfer, a receipt putting her somewhere else. They still piled eight felonies on a 23-year-old because the computer coughed up a girl in the same model.
If you need a woman-driver punchline, here it is: the state treated "female, Durango, nearby" like a confession. If you need the actual sentence: she did not kill anyone, the camera is not a witness, and 13 days in a box for a wrong-color SUV is the product. Flock did not need to be evil. The cops just needed to be lazy, and a woman behind the wheel made the laziness feel like instinct.
