The facts
Charlie Kirk was shot dead at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025. Today is the one-year mark. Italian-born sculptor Sergio Furnari made a life-size bronze of Kirk in a "FREEDOM" sweatshirt, mic in hand. Furnari told Fox News Digital he funded it himself, about $100,000, and said he did not agree with all of Kirk's views. He wanted it in Times Square at 2:33 p.m., the time of the shooting.
Turning Point USA advocate Jake Lang, who took part in the January 6 Capitol riot, led a small crowd. The Mirror US reported the statue came out around 2:30 p.m., about three minutes early, sat there about two minutes, then a white van took it up 7th Avenue. Organizers appeared to pull it to keep it from being vandalized.
Counterprotester Von Brown, 29, wore a hoodie with an animation of the neck shot and the words "Protect Ya Neck." He chanted "fuck Charlie Kirk." James Zeits, 49, of Staten Island, called Brown a racist. They shoved. Cops broke up later fights. Lang's group chanted "They can't kill us all."
Our take
They built a bronze man, drove him into the center of the universe, and gave him the runtime of a TikTok. Then they stuffed him back in the van like a rented bounce house because one guy in a snuff hoodie showed up.
Do not make the corpse the punchline. Kirk is dead. The stunt is the joke. Two minutes. A Jan. 6 guy with a megaphone. A hoodie of the wound. A Staten Island man calling the hoodie guy racist. Times Square tourists watching Americans fight over a statue they already packed up.
If your memorial cannot survive two minutes of a cunt in a graphic tee, it was never a statue. It was a prop. The van was the honest part.
