The facts
At Aardman’s 50th-anniversary auction in London on Sept. 24, the stop-motion Feathers McGraw puppet from 2024’s *Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl* sold for £56,700. A screen-matched Wallace puppet sold for £50,400, ABC News reported.
Aardman says proceeds will support talent development, including bursaries at the Aardman Academy, skills programs and opportunities for emerging filmmakers. The image shows another Feathers McGraw model on display in Bristol, not a confirmed photograph of the auctioned puppet.
Our take
Feathers usually goes in for crimes involving a red-glove disguise and a diamond. This time, the expressionless little bastard fetched £56,700 by standing still while collectors threw money at a hunk of clay. He has always understood leverage better than most people with a LinkedIn account.
Aardman says the money will help train new animators. So the smug little crook’s latest score buys bursaries and animation skills instead of a stolen jewel. No getaway car, no confession, not even a flap. His latest heist ends with a new crop of tiny bastards somebody has to teach to move.
