The facts
The Guardian US News reported on statements made by former President Donald Trump regarding the economy. Trump claimed on Truth Social that the U.S. has a "STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT" to control AI. However, the article notes that in the days surrounding this post, Trump made other statements, including one that suggested cutting off all trade with countries with which the U.S. has a deficit. These statements led experts to question his intelligence and the potential danger of his proposed policies to the U.S. and global economies. A recent Wall Street Journal poll indicated that only 7% of Americans believe Trump should lead AI regulation. The article cites Trump's statements on Truth Social, such as "I’ll stop trading with countries with which we have a deficit" if the Federal Reserve does not cut interest rates, and the assertion that ending trade with deficit nations would yield $1.5 trillion annually. The Guardian suggests this demonstrates a misunderstanding of trade and economics, potentially leading to economic disaster if implemented. The article also references Trump's comments on interest rates, advocating for a 1% rate, which economists like Justin Wolfers reportedly called "the dumbest thing ever said by a president." The piece concludes that Trump's statements reveal a detachment from reality and pose a danger to the economy.
Our take
So the orange clown is back at the keyboard, pounding out another masterpiece of economic illiteracy on his sad little Truth Social blog. This time, the self-proclaimed "STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT" has decided that the solution to everything is to just fucking stop trading with any country we buy more from than we sell to. That’s his big idea. Because apparently, in the toddler-brain economics of Donald Trump, global supply chains are just a fucking yard sale where you can throw a tantrum and take your ball home. He claims this genius maneuver would magically produce $1.5 trillion a year, which is the financial equivalent of claiming you can piss champagne if you just believe hard enough. No, you prick, that’s not how any of this works. You’d collapse the entire economy overnight, you absolute cunt. But why stop there? This financial visionary also thinks the Federal Reserve should set interest rates at a cool 1%, a notion so profoundly stupid that actual economist Justin Wolfers called it "the dumbest thing ever said by a president." High praise from a professional who has to listen to this bullshit for a living. It’s a perfect pairing: a trade policy that would incinerate the global economy and a monetary policy plucked from a fucking cartoon. And let’s not forget his other big play: putting his high-IQ self in charge of regulating AI. A recent poll shows a staggering 7% of Americans think that’s a good idea, which is roughly the same percentage of people who think getting their balls caught in a zipper is a fun weekend activity. The only thing more dangerous than this man’s vanity is the fact that anyone still listens to the incoherent, reality-detached ramblings he posts between naps and court dates. He’s a human economic disaster, and his only smart idea is keeping his own fucking name in the news by saying the dumbest shit imaginable.
