The facts
Donald Trump announced in September that advertisements promoting his administration would no longer be funded with taxpayer money, stating on Truth Social that future ads would be paid for by donations. These ads, marked "paid for by the US government," featured images of Trump and combative messages. Political opponents and NGOs criticized the ads, citing US law that prohibits the use of taxpayer funds for political advertisements, especially so close to the midterm elections. Public Citizen, a consumer advocacy group, filed a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission, asserting that the ads constituted government propaganda and partisan political advertising. Patrick Malone, a professor at American University, noted that while Trump was not explicitly campaigning, the timing of the ads was problematic. The US Department of Homeland Security reportedly paid an agency $20 million for a "national media campaign." The midterm elections involve voting for members of Congress, with Republicans currently holding majorities in the Senate and House of Representatives. Recent polls suggest a potential shift in voter preference, with older voters showing less advantage for Trump's party and younger voters favoring Democrats. Opinions on Trump's presidency remain low, impacting Republican candidates' willingness to appear with him.
Our take
So Donald Trump, the human carnival barker, posted on his shitty social media platform that his little propaganda videos wouldn't use your money anymore. He said they'd be paid for by donations from his sad fan club. What a noble fucking gesture from a man who treats the US Treasury like his personal piggy bank. And then, in a move that surprises absolutely no one with a functioning brain cell, the Department of Homeland Security went ahead and paid a firm twenty million dollars for a "national media campaign" that just happens to plaster his smug, orange fucking face everywhere right before an election. What a coincidence! It's not campaigning, you see, it's just a $20 million government-funded dick pic sent to the entire country, stamped "paid for by the US government" like a badge of honor for the most blatant theft since he stiffed his contractors.
Public Citizen, an actual watchdog group, filed a complaint calling this bullshit what it is: illegal partisan propaganda. They're right, but they're being polite. This is a grift so raw and obvious it would make a three-card monte dealer blush. The law says you can't use taxpayer funds for political ads, especially this close to an election. But Trump's entire existence is a middle finger to the law, so why stop now? He promised no taxpayer money, then immediately used twenty million taxpayer dollars. The lying prick couldn't even wait a full news cycle before contradicting himself. His word is worth less than the paper his bullshit Truth Social posts are printed on.
And let's talk about the timing, you cowardly fucks. Professor Patrick Malone says it's "problematic." Problematic? It's a fucking crime scene. The midterms are here, his party is scared shitless because everyone hates him, and his brilliant plan is to illegally buy ads with money he swore he wouldn't touch. It's the political equivalent of shitting on your neighbor's lawn and then sending them a bill for the fertilizer. The sheer, unadulterated gall is breathtaking. Every cent of that twenty million is a monument to his vanity and the utter cowardice of every Republican enabler who lets this bloated cunt raid the public coffers to prop up his failing brand.
He's not securing the homeland; he's securing his own pathetic legacy with a propaganda blitz you paid for. The ads might as well have a tagline that says, Vote for my party, you poor suckers who funded this message. It's the most expensive vanity project since the gold-plated toilet he probably dreams about. And the funniest, saddest part? His own party's candidates don't even want to be seen with him. They know he's a sinking ship, but they're happy to let him steal the lifeboats - as long as they're paid for with your money. What a pack of useless, thieving bastards. Next time you see his face on TV, remember: that smirk cost you twenty million dollars and your last shred of faith that this country isn't being run by a kleptocratic dickhead.
