The facts
Former President Donald Trump has repeatedly paired federal disaster announcements with campaign messages during the 2026 midterm race, according to AP News. On Wednesday he endorsed Wisconsin Republican Rep. Tom Tiffany for governor and posted that $17.9 million in disaster funds were slated for the state. Democratic Governor Tony Evers said his office had not been informed and accused Trump and Tiffany of politicizing aid. At a rally in North Carolina, Trump joked that he would withhold Hurricane Helene recovery money if Senate candidate Michael Whatley lost, then quickly said he was kidding. AP notes that Ohio’s disaster declaration authorized direct aid for seven of 23 counties, with 15 additional requests still pending. The White House and FEMA have denied any political motivation behind the announcements.
Our take
What a colossal, scenery‑chewing prick. Donald Trump has apparently decided that the federal government’s ability to help people after their houses get blown away is just another prop in his endless campaign infomercial. He’s out here slapping endorsements on top of disaster funding announcements like a toddler putting stickers on a hurricane map. He endorsed some Wisconsin dipshit and *then* mentioned, oh by the way, almost eighteen million bucks might be headed that way. The actual governor of Wisconsin had no clue, because why would the guy in charge of the state need to know? The information pipeline now runs directly from Trump’s shitter to his Twitter feed, bypassing all that pesky ‘governance’ bullshit. It’s a two‑for‑one special: vote for my guy, and *maybe* you’ll get the money you need to not die. What a statesman. But the real comedy gold, the peak of this shitshow, came in North Carolina. There, the orange fucker looked at people recovering from a hurricane and thought, ‘You know what this needs? A hostage situation.’ He publicly joked about withholding recovery money if his preferred Senate candidate lost, then immediately said he was kidding. Of course he was kidding! It’s all a fucking joke to him. The destruction, the desperation, the allocation of actual help – it’s just set dressing for his pathetic ego‑stroking rallies. The White House and FEMA, those useless lapdogs, deny any political motivation. No shit they deny it. Their entire job now is to stand behind this bloated carnival barker with a straight face while he pisses on the concept of public service and calls it rain. He’s turning disaster relief into a campaign loyalty program, and the only disaster that truly needs federal attention is the one between his ears.
