Trump Too Busy With 'National Importance' to Sit for Deposition in His Own $10bn Lawsuit, BBC Tells Court

Broadcaster begs court to pry the central plaintiff from his golf cart and into a chair so his own $10 billion pity party can proceed.

The facts

The BBC has asked a federal judge in Florida to order Donald Trump to sit for a deposition as part of his $10 billion defamation lawsuit against the broadcaster. According to a Tuesday filing by the BBC, Trump's legal team had initially agreed to a deposition on Friday, October 16. However, Trump's lawyers informed the BBC on September 28 that he was unavailable due to "other matters of national importance." While they suggested replacement dates in January, these fall after the discovery deadline for the case. The BBC stated in its filing that it has spent eight months attempting to secure a deposition location and has yet to schedule questioning for Trump, whom it identifies as the central plaintiff. The BBC's lawyers are requesting the court compel Trump's team to confirm a deposition date, provide a secure location, and ensure the deposition proceeds as required by discovery rules. A discovery hearing is scheduled for October 22. Trump filed the lawsuit in December 2025, alleging the BBC defamed him in a Panorama documentary that edited his remarks from a January 6, 2021 rally. The BBC has apologized for the edit. A spokesperson for Trump's legal team accused the BBC of intentionally doctoring his speech to interfere in the 2024 Presidential Election.

Our take

Eight months. The BBC has spent eight fucking months trying to schedule a basic legal step in a lawsuit *he* filed, and the best his legal goons can muster is that the big man is too busy with ‘other matters of national importance.’ What, precisely, are these matters? Polishing his golf trophies? Drafting another all-caps shriek into the void? This isn't a schedule conflict; it’s the tactical delay of a professional grifter who knows his entire case is a house of cards built on a foundation of bullshit. He’s the ‘central plaintiff’ but treats the central act of being a plaintiff - answering questions under oath - like a personal insult from the judicial peasantry. Suggesting dates in January, after the discovery deadline, is the legal equivalent of a toddler shoving his broccoli onto the floor and declaring dinner is over. It’s the move of a cunt who believes deadlines and rules are for the little people, not for a stable genius with more important things to do, like whine about how unfairly he’s treated. The BBC already apologized for the edit, but that was never the point. The point is the perpetual grievance, the $10 billion shakedown attempt, and the theater of pretending he’s too important to participate in the mess he created. This is the behavior of a coward hiding behind lawyers, a calendar, and a self-inflated sense of destiny. He wants the headline of suing for ten billion bucks but can’t be bothered to do the paperwork. He wants to play the victim but runs from the witness stand. It’s pathetic. The judge should tell this clown to get his bloated, litigious ass into a chair, under oath, and answer the fucking questions. His ‘national importance’ can take a backseat to his personal responsibility for once. The only thing being defamed here is the concept of showing up. Now sit down, shut up, and depose, you absolute prick. The world’s smallest violin is playing for your busy schedule. It sounds like a kazoo full of piss. Because you are a joke. A sad, expensive, time-wasting joke. Now go do your homework, you monumental shithead. You started this circus. Get in the fucking tent. End of story, you coward. The country will survive a few hours without your bitching. It might even enjoy the silence.
