The facts
On Friday, October 2, 2026, President Donald Trump told reporters that he would double tariffs on South Korea if they did not agree to pay for a $54 billion natural gas pipeline in Alaska. Trump claimed the pipeline project was part of a deal made in 2025 to lower tariffs on South Korean imports in exchange for billions of dollars in US investments. A South Korean official had stated on Thursday that the country had only agreed to "initiate a review" of the possible investment. "No, I didn't jump the gun," Trump said. "Let's see if they don't want to do it. That's okay with me. I'll just charge them more." He added, "Tell them if they don't sign shortly, I'm going to double it up, okay?" Trump also commented on the appointment of Letitia James as special prosecutor for an alleged gang-rape case at Cornell University, stating, Letitia James is a corrupt person. I feel badly for whoever she's looking at, because they won't get a fair shake.
Our take
Donald Trump, the world's most expensive and unstable maitre d', has decided that a polite agreement to maybe, possibly, someday review a $54 billion natural gas pipeline is actually a binding contract to write a check for $54 billion. And if South Korea doesn't immediately fork over the cash for a project in fucking Alaska, this orange prick is going to double their tariffs. It's like a mob boss sending a "review" of your kneecaps and then demanding protection money because you didn't agree to the terms of the beating he hasn't given you yet.
Let's get this straight, because the dementia is thick. A South Korean official said, on the record, that they agreed to "initiate a review." That's dipshit for we'll think about it. Trump hears that and his brain translates it to DEAL SIGNED, MONEY IN THE BAG, TIME TO THREATEN THEM. His entire foreign policy is built on the premise that other countries are just forgetful tenants who need to be reminded, with economic violence, of rents they never agreed to pay. "No, I didn't jump the gun," he said, which is what every fucking clown says right after they've jumped the gun, shot themselves in the foot, and blamed the bullet for being disloyal.
His solution? "I'll just charge them more." This is the strategic depth of a man who thinks running a country is like haggling for a shitty gold-plated lamp at a flea market. He can't tell the difference between a multi-national investment negotiation and strong-arming a contractor who underbid a hotel ballroom renovation. The $54 billion price tag is just a number he pulled out of his ass to sound big, a fantasy invoice for services not rendered, to a client who just asked for a brochure.
And because he's a petty, vindictive cunt who can't focus on one act of geopolitical arson at a time, he had to also take a swing at Letitia James, calling her "corrupt" for doing her job as a special prosecutor. He feels "badly for whoever she's looking at," which is the most transparent projection since IMAX. He's terrified of competent legal professionals who aren't sucking his dick, so he has to pre-emptively shit on them whenever a microphone wanders near. The man is a human panic attack in a suit, threatening allies with economic ruin over imaginary deals while lashing out at anyone who represents actual, functioning law. It's a masterpiece of senile, self-important bullshit.
