The facts
On Saturday President Donald Trump posted what appeared to be Senator Tom Cotton’s personal cellphone number and urged his followers to call the Arkansas Republican to support the Sunshine Protection Act, which would make daylight saving time permanent. The bill passed the House in July but faces opposition in the Senate, with Cotton and other Republicans warning that permanent daylight saving would leave children walking to school in dark winter mornings. Cotton cited potential sunrise times as late as 8:30 a.m. in Arkansas and even later in northern states. The Associated Press and The Guardian called the number; the AP voicemail was full and the carrier message said the line was unavailable. Trump previously released Senator Lindsey Graham’s number during the 2016 campaign. A 2025 AP‑NORC poll showed 47% of Americans favor keeping extra evening daylight, 12% prefer the current system, and 40% are neutral.
Our take
What a fucking petty, small-dick move. The President of the United States, the alleged leader of the free world, just doxxed a sitting U.S. senator over… fucking *daylight*. Not a coup, not a war, but the seasonal bitching about clocks. He’s turned the Oval Office into a customer complaint line for people who think 4:30pm darkness is a personal attack. The sheer, staggering cowardice of it - too much of a pussy to have a policy debate about schoolchildren’s safety, so he just throws a private cell number to the wolves and hopes the harassment does the arguing for him. It’s the political equivalent of keying someone’s car because they disagreed with you about the thermostat. Absolute cunt behavior. And for what? A bill that, according to the polls, nearly half the country doesn’t give a shit about either way. He’s weaponizing his followers’ boredom to terrorize a colleague. The fucking voicemail is full. The carrier says the line is unavailable. Trump didn’t just share a number; he successfully turned a senator’s phone into a useless brick, a monument to his own pathetic vanity. Remember when he did this to Lindsey Graham in 2016? The man’s entire governing philosophy is just pulling a fire alarm and pointing at the guy who told him not to. He’s not a leader; he’s a fucking hall monitor with a Twitter addiction and the nuclear codes, throwing a tantrum because someone pointed out that maybe kids shouldn’t walk to school in pitch blackness. The debate is now buried under a mountain of missed calls from pissed-off retirees who want more BBQ time. What a legacy: turning the Senate’s business into a telemarketing scam run by the world’s most sensitive, vindictive grifter. The sunshine can’t protect you from that level of bullshit.
