The facts
President Trump announced he has canceled plans to livestream the December execution of Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan, following bipartisan backlash. Trump stated on social media that while he believed streaming the execution could have been a deterrent, "Many very good and well-meaning people would rather not watch him die." This decision came after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had announced the livestream plan. Meanwhile, federal law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, are investigating a series of letters containing "suspicious substances" sent to congressional and state election officials in at least six states, including Ohio, South Dakota, and Maryland, less than three weeks before the midterm elections. In Bend, Oregon, police reported multiple victims, including children, in a shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School. The shooter was reportedly killed at the scene, possibly by a bystander. In Pakistan, the roof of a private school collapsed during morning classes in Peshawar, killing at least 34 children and a teacher, with over 50 others injured. The school's owner has been arrested.
Our take
Well, well, the big, tough, ratings-obsessed bastard finally flinched. After announcing he was going to turn a soldier's execution into a fucking pay-per-view event, President Trump has canceled his sick livestream spectacle because - shocker - even his own slobbering sycophants and the people they hate found the idea ghoulish. He claims 'many very good and well-meaning people would rather not watch him die,' which is a truly pathetic way of admitting that turning state-sanctioned killing into prime-time entertainment for his base was a bridge too far, even for this carnival barker. What a sensitive soul. He only wanted to broadcast a man's death as a 'deterrent,' a concept so intellectually bankrupt it belongs in a dumpster behind a community college criminology department. This is the same prick who thinks he's the law-and-order president, yet his first instinct is to stage a snuff film. Fucking clown.
And let's not forget the architect of this shitshow, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who apparently thought the Pentagon's job was now producing content for the darkest corners of the internet. What a pair of visionaries. They probably had the whole thing storyboarded: 'Opening shot of the needle, cut to a close-up of Hasan's face, maybe a patriotic filter?' It's the ultimate merger of Trump's two core competencies: vicious cruelty and a desperate, coked-up need for attention. The fact that it took 'bipartisan backlash' to stop it just shows how morally vacant this administration's default settings are. They'll only back down from an atrocity if the optics get too shitty. What a principled stand.
So, congrats, America. Your leader briefly considered becoming a literal death-streaming service, and the only thing that stopped him was that it might hurt his brand. Meanwhile, the actual news - poison letters to election officials, school shootings, kids crushed under a roof - unfolds in a relentless, horrific scroll. But sure, let's all be grateful the Commander-in-Chief won't be your host for tonight's execution. What a fucking low bar. What an absolute, grinding, soul-pissing disgrace this all is. The circus is permanently in town, and the main tent is a fucking graveyard.
