The facts
Rep. Max Miller, the 37-year-old Ohio Republican who served as a White House aide in Trump’s first term, is running for re-election while denying domestic-violence allegations from his ex-wife. Emily Moreno, the daughter of Ohio’s other Republican senator, Bernie Moreno, accused Miller in court filings and police reports of throwing boiling water at her, holding a gun to her head, and other physical abuse. The two divorced in 2025 and share custody of their daughter, whose collarbone Moreno alleges was broken in Miller’s care. Miller has denied all the allegations, and the House Ethics Committee is investigating him.
Over the summer, his own party wanted him gone. Both of Ohio’s Republican senators said he should drop out. President Trump told Miller his prospects of winning weren’t good, and privately told advisers he thought Miller should step aside, according to a person with knowledge of his comments. In August, Bernie Moreno said his former son-in-law “is a danger to my daughter” and shouldn’t be serving in Congress.
Then the polling came in. Trump won Miller’s district by 11 percentage points in 2024, but election watchers have moved the contest to tossup, and Republicans need every seat they can hold to keep their narrow House majority. So the party opened its wallet. The GOP leadership-aligned super PAC Congressional Leadership Fund committed about $5 million to ads in the district, the National Republican Congressional Committee is funding ads too, and Miller says Trump called him in September to say the president is “incredibly supportive” and that he’s going to win. Miller also reported a “really good” conversation with House Speaker Mike Johnson, who has called Miller’s troubles a personal issue.
Miller faces Democrat Brian Poindexter, a 47-year-old ironworker and former Brook Park city councilman endorsed by Sen. Bernie Sanders and several unions. Poindexter is running ads featuring a sheriff reading off the allegations against Miller. Miller’s side is running ads about Poindexter’s run-ins with the law, including a police report from when Poindexter was 18 that alleged he tried to swallow a rock of suspected crack cocaine.
Through it all, Miller has kept his sense of humor about the legal system. Campaigning in his Cleveland-area district, he points constituents to his district office, which sits in the same complex as a local courthouse, joking that it reminds him of his own court appearances.
Our take
Here’s the fucking math: a man accused of holding a gun to his wife’s head and scalding her with boiling water is worth exactly five million dollars and one narrow House majority to the Republican Party. That’s the price tag they’ve slapped on their alleged ‘family values’, and they’re paying it in cash, you stupid cunts.
This isn’t a pivot; it’s a full-throated, spit-flecked blowjob for power. Over the summer, they wanted this prick gone. Trump told him his chances were shit. His own father-in-law, a senator from his own party, said Miller was a ‘danger to my daughter’. That was before some consultant showed them a spreadsheet that said this boiling-water enthusiast might lose a seat. Suddenly, the same party that wanted him to quit is shoving five million bucks up his ass for ads, Trump is calling to say he’s ‘incredibly supportive’, and Speaker Mike Johnson is having a ‘really good’ chat about what he calls a ‘personal issue’. A personal issue, for fuck’s sake. Trying to swallow a crack rock at 18 is a personal issue. Allegedly breaking your kid’s collarbone and terrorizing your ex with a firearm is a fucking crime scene, you cowardly assholes.
And Miller, this smug piece of shit, is out there campaigning with a joke about how his district office reminds him of his court appearances. He’s treating the courthouse like a fucking punchline because he knows his party has turned into his own personal cleanup crew. They’re not just tolerating him; they’re funding him. They’ve looked at the allegations of boiling water and a gun to the head and decided, nah, we can work with that, just don’t lose the seat.
The only people with a shred of fucking decency here are the random constituents. One teenager said he couldn’t support Miller because ‘My siblings are mostly sisters’. A kid with sisters has more moral backbone than the entire GOP leadership, which saw a man called a danger by his own family and decided to make him their five-million-dollar problem. Another guy hugged Miller and said, ‘Don’t worry, we think Bernie Moreno sucks, too.’ That’s the level we’re at now: the endorsement is ‘your accuser’s dad is also a dickhead’. The bar is in the fucking basement, and the Republican Party is licking it clean for a vote.
So congratulations, you absolute ghouls. You’ve officially priced ‘alleged domestic terrorist’ below ‘possible House seat’. Your values aren’t compromised; they’re for sale by the pound, and you just bought a truckload of this abusive fucker’s bullshit. Enjoy your investment.
