Democratic U.S. Senate nominee James Talarico said he was “honored” to receive the endorsement of the Texas Organizing Project (TOP), calling the group “irreplaceable.” TOP’s charitable bail program had disbursed more than $1 million by September 2021, freeing over 675 defendants across Texas. The program came under fire after Shane James, who was bailed by TOP in early 2022 while facing misdemeanor family‑assault charges, was later accused of a six‑person killing spree in San Antonio and Austin. A 2024 KSAT investigation found TOP had posted bail in at least 196 Bexar County cases since October 2022, with warrants later issued for re‑arrest in 58 of those cases. TOP said its screening process could not predict future behavior and announced an internal review.

James Talarico is honored to have the endorsement of the Texas Organizing Project. He called them 'irreplaceable.' That's the only true thing he's said. The market for progressive groups that bail out accused misdemeanor assault suspects who later allegedly shoot six people, including their own parents, is probably pretty fucking tight. It's a niche! You can't just replace that shit. The 'community relationship' here is that they gave a guy a get-out-of-jail-free card and he allegedly used it to go on a killing spree. Irreplaceable indeed. You'd have to work really hard to build that kind of track record. TOP's process is so good they couldn't predict that. It's like a weatherman who can't predict rain while you're getting piss-showered. Their internal review will presumably conclude that their crystal ball was in the shop. Meanwhile, the KSAT investigation shows this wasn't a one-off psychic failure. Out of 196 Bexar County cases they bailed, 58 later had warrants issued for re-arrest. That's a 30% failure rate on the simple task of 'don't let someone out who immediately needs to be hunted down again.' For a million bucks, you'd think they could afford a Magic 8-Ball that says 'Outlook not so good.' But no, they're irreplaceable partners. Talarico, you pandering, soulless prick, you saw a group that helped an alleged family annihilator skip bail and thought, 'Yes, this is the moral authority I want vouching for me.' You're not just a grifter; you're a fucking ghoul doing a victory lap in a graveyard your new best friends helped dig. The only thing 'irreplaceable' here is the stench of your bullshit.
