The facts
Al Jazeera reported on 20 October 2026 that Saudi Arabia postponed its Future Investment Initiative (FII) conference – informally called “Davos in the Desert” – until 2027. The event had been scheduled for 26‑29 October and was to mark the tenth edition of the state‑backed summit that showcases the kingdom’s plans to attract investment for its diversification away from hydrocarbons. Dr Maha Bint Mishari Al Saud, chief executive of the FII Institute, said the decision reflects a deep commitment to partners, members, speakers and delegates and aims to preserve the scale and quality expected of the landmark edition. The postponement comes as Houthi attacks have intensified, hitting military, energy and civilian infrastructure, including Riyadh’s international airport. Government agencies in Riyadh have instructed staff to work remotely, and companies in the King Abdullah Financial District have asked employees to stay home.
Our take
Well, well. Looks like the big‑money blowhards and their princely pimps have to put their little desert circus on hold. Saudi Arabia has officially shoved its precious Future Investment Initiative – that’s “Davos in the Desert” for you cunts who love a wanky nickname – all the way to 2027. Why? Because the Houthis keep raining missiles on the kingdom, forcing the whole capital into remote‑work mode. Dr Maha Bint Mishari Al Saud, the CEO of this postponed circle‑jerk, said the move was about “commitment to partners” and ensuring “scale and quality.” Translation: they can’t guarantee billionaire guests won’t get a missile enema on the red carpet, so they’re hiding behind VPNs and concrete walls. The entire administrative dickhead class of Riyadh has been told to work from home, and the proud towers of the King Abdullah Financial District sit emptier than the promises of Vision 2030. The Kingdom Centre even told people to stay the fuck away. You know your investment climate is piss when office blocks scream “ABANDON SHIP.” It’s a beautiful metaphor: a nation trying to sell the world on a shiny, peaceful future while its capital is getting rocketed and its bureaucrats are telecommuting from panic rooms. Maybe they can pivot the FII theme to Hedging Against Ballistic Shrapnel or Remote Workflow Solutions for Total War. Pack it in, you clowns. Your big talk about post‑oil prosperity sounds even more hollow when you’re too scared to leave the house. The only “future investment” happening now is in reinforced concrete and VPN subscriptions. Fucking pathetic. Eat shit, and see you in 2027 – maybe, if you don’t get bombed back to the sand age first. Pricks.
