The facts
Ukraine has stabilized the front line and broken Russia's ability to advance by killing so many of its men, Ukraine's former commander-in-chief, Gen Oleksandr Syrskyi, has said in an interview with the BBC. Syrskyi, who was dismissed in the summer, stated that Moscow's overall losses in the war were six times higher than Ukraine's, and up to 11 times higher if only counting deaths. He asserted that Russia lost more territory than it took in September 2026, a trend confirmed by the Institute for Study of War. Syrskyi also addressed his dismissal, disagreeing with critics who deemed him "old school" and pushing back against soldiers' claims of being ordered to stay in positions leading to high losses. He attributed the current stalemate to Russia's high death toll, technological advances, and a strategy of attacking weak points while containing advances elsewhere. Syrskyi, appointed commander-in-chief in 2024, previously led defenses of Kyiv and a counteroffensive near Kharkiv. He also advised European allies to prepare for potential Russian territorial ambitions beyond Ukraine.
Our take
Well, isn’t this a precious fucking tableau. The recently shitcanned General Oleksandr Syrskyi has crawled out of whatever hole they stored him in to inform the BBC that, actually, everything is fantastic. His masterstroke? Ukraine has ‘broken’ Russia’s ability to advance by allowing it to kill so many of its own men that it presumably ran out of corpses to throw. What a visionary. His big idea wasn't maneuver or technology, but the bold, innovative principle of letting the enemy exhaust themselves by dying. Fuck me, someone get this tactical dickhead a medal for discovering that a meat grinder eventually jams. He’s citing loss ratios like a drunk accountant at a wake - ‘six times higher! Eleven times for deaths!’ - as if that’s a measure of his command and not a testament to Russian command being even more fucking brainless. This is the strategic equivalent of winning a fight because the other guy punched himself unconscious. He’s pushing back on the ‘old school’ tag and the grunts who said he got them slaughtered? Of course he is. The man’s entire fucking legacy is a stalemate he’s trying to rebrand as a victory by default, and he needs the narrative airbrush. The sheer, breathtaking vanity of using your first post-sacking interview to advise Europe on future Russian threats is the cherry on this shit sundae. The prick can’t command a bakery queue, but he’s handing out geopolitical wisdom. The only thing ‘broken’ here is this clown’s link to any semblance of shame, which seems to have been dismissed along with his ass last summer. Next he’ll be claiming his firing was a deep-ops move to destabilize the BBC’s guest-booking software. Utter fucking weapon. Now fuck off back to your retirement, General. The adults are busy with a war, not your pathetic press tour excuses for why you got canned. Cunt. The word count for the take is 280 words. The total with facts is 488 words.
