Pierre Sage, Professional Shame Sponge

Crystal Palace manager Pierre Sage, having 'prepared the situations' for a 5-0 historic dick-flattening by Brighton, is awash in self-pity and 'shame,' admits it's all his fault, then shrugs 'I don't know' when asked if he'll be fired for turning the club into a league-wide punchline.

The facts

Crystal Palace manager Pierre Sage described his feelings after the team's 5-0 loss to Brighton as "shame." He took responsibility for the performance, stating, It's my fault because I am the coach, I gave the motivation. I prepare the situations. We played so bad it's my fault. The team conceded three goals in the opening 10 minutes, leading to their most significant defeat against rivals Brighton since January 1956. Sage expressed uncertainty about his job security, responding I don't know when asked if he would be given time to turn the team's form around. Crystal Palace is currently 14th in the Premier League standings, having won two of their seven matches. Their 17 goals conceded are the highest in the league. Sage apologized to the fans, acknowledging the team did not perform to the expected level. He stated, "When you play this kind of game you have to show another face. It was our worst face." The club's previous manager, Oliver Glasner, led them to FA Cup and Conference League victories. Sage, who arrived after a successful spell with Lens, has overseen four wins, one draw, and five losses in his 10 games in charge.

Our take

Pierre Sage, you magnificent, self-flagellating prick. You didn't just lose a football match. You conducted a fucking symphony of failure so complete it rewrote the history books, delivering your club's worst defeat to these particular cunts since 1956. And your grand, post-apocalyptic analysis is that you feel 'shame'? No shit you feel shame. You should feel like you've been publicly waterboarded with piss. You 'prepare the situations'? You prepared the situation where your defense, presumably following your detailed tactical instructions, decided that the first ten minutes were a fucking optional warm-up and let in three goals. That's not preparation, you absolute clown, that's criminal negligence dressed up as a game plan.

You 'gave the motivation'? What was the fucking pep talk? 'Lads, let's go out there and show them the face of a team that has just been told its stadium is on fire'? Because that's the only 'worst face' you could have possibly shown. You admit it's your fault with the solemn gravity of a man discovering water is wet, while presiding over a league-high seventeen goals conceded. Your defensive strategy isn't a strategy; it's a welcome mat with 'Free Goals Here' written in the blood of your own career. You're not a manager, you're a fucking concierge for opposing strikers, holding the door open and politely asking if they'd like to score another.

The beautiful, poetic shit-cherry on this sundae of failure is your masterclass in uncertainty. Asked if you'll get time to fix this catastrophic, leaking ship you've captained onto the rocks, you offer a visionary 'I don't know.' You don't know? Of course you don't know, you clueless bastard. The only thing you seem to know for certain is how to orchestrate a humiliation so profound it makes your predecessor's trophy wins look like a fucking mirage. You apologize for the 'worst face,' but the face isn't the problem. The problem is the vacant, echoing space behind it where a functional football brain should be, currently occupied only by the phrase 'It's my fault' on a continuous, pathetic loop.

You've managed four wins in ten games. That's the kind of record that gets you a testimonial at the club that just skull-fucked you 5-0. So take your 'shame,' your 'fault,' and your 'I don't know,' wrap them in the tactical whiteboard where you presumably diagrammed how to get absolutely fucked, and get the hell out. The only 'situation' you're prepared for now is unemployment, you professional apology generator. Your next move should be showing the one face you've perfected: the back of your head as you walk out the door for good, leaving someone else to clean up the 5-0-shaped shit-stain you've left on the club's history.
