NFL's London Cash-Grab Backfires as Fans Tell Price-Gouging Clowns to Get Fucked

League reports 18.6 million UK fans while loyal supporters like Matt Cullen from Cambridge call ticket prices 'mind-boggling' and a 'money-grab' after season packages get scrapped and cheapest seats jump 43.9 percent past inflation.

The facts

The NFL's 2026 London series kicked off with the Washington Commanders facing the Indianapolis Colts, but the event was overshadowed by fan discontent over ticket prices. While the NFL reports a growing UK fanbase of 18.6 million, thousands of tickets remained available for some games, unlike previous years where games at Wembley, Twickenham, and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium were near capacity. The cheapest tickets for the Commanders-Colts game were priced between £79-£245, with prices later reduced. This increase is significant compared to 2019 prices, which ranged from £55 to £125. According to Ticket-Compare, UK inflation has risen by approximately 32.4% since 2019, while the cheapest NFL London tickets have increased by 43.9%, and the most expensive by 96.5%.

Long-term fans like Matt Cullen from Cambridge described the current prices as 'mind-boggling' and a 'money-grab' that has priced out loyal supporters. The scrapping of season-ticket packages after the 2024 season, which offered discounted seats for all London games, further angered fans who felt undervalued. Cullen stated, 'It felt like a kick to the head for a lot of loyal fans.'

Fans also noted a perceived decline in the quality of matchups compared to games in other international markets like Australia and Brazil, which featured more competitive divisional clashes. However, the upcoming game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Jacksonville Jaguars, featuring a team that has reached two of the past four Super Bowls, sold out quickly despite being the most expensive. Some fans, like Dave from Chorley, acknowledged that the changes, while frustrating, have opened opportunities for new fans to attend, calling it a 'double-edged sword.' Despite the controversies, the atmosphere at the games remained festive, with fans traveling from the US and Europe, and celebrities like Simone Biles and Wayne Rooney in attendance.

Our take

The NFL’s London expansion has finally revealed its master plan: find the most dedicated fans and piss directly into their open, cheering mouths. The league’s 2026 opener featured the Washington Commanders and Indianapolis Colts, a matchup so thrilling it left thousands of seats empty. The cheapest tickets started at a cool £79, which is a 43.9% increase since 2019, while UK inflation only managed a measly 32.4%. The NFL’s accountants apparently think their product is made of fucking diamonds, not grown men in tights falling over for three hours. When even the Brits, a people who voluntarily pay for a TV license, think your prices are a ‘mind-boggling money-grab,’ you’ve officially become a cartoon villain. Long-term fan Matt Cullen said it felt like ‘a kick to the head.’ That’s because it was, you gullible prick. The league then had the absolute balls to slash prices later, admitting their initial ask was pure fantasy. What a bunch of clowns. They scrapped the season-ticket packages that rewarded loyalty, because why nurture a base when you can just fleece a new one every year? The league’s UK fanbase is reportedly 18.6 million strong, but they’re learning the hard way that to the NFL, they’re just 18.6 million wallets waiting to be lightened. Fans noticed the better games, the actual divisional clashes, get sent to Australia and Brazil. London gets the fucking leftovers, the Commanders-Colts special, but still gets charged top-shelf prices for well vodka. The one decent matchup, Eagles-Jaguars, sold out instantly, proving the league knows exactly how to price-gouge when the product isn’t complete ass. Some apologist named Dave called it a ‘double-edged sword,’ which is a polite way of saying ‘we’re getting fucked, but at least new people are getting fucked with us.’ The festive atmosphere and celebrity sightings don’t change the calculus: the NFL saw a loyal market and decided to treat it like a piggy bank to be smashed. Now they’re sitting in half-empty stadiums, counting their money and wondering where all the real fans went. Good. Fuck ‘em. Let them play to a crowd of ghosts and Wayne Rooney. Maybe they can charge him £245 to watch this shit, too. They’ve turned a growing success story into a cynical cash-extraction scheme, and they deserve every empty seat as a monument to their greed.
