The facts
Three years after the 7 October 2023 attacks, residents of Kfar Aza are demanding accountability for Israel's security failures. On that day, Hamas-led attackers killed 64 people and kidnapped 19 from the community. Inbar Goldstein, whose family members were killed or kidnapped, stated, 'I need my country to take responsibility.' The attacks resulted in approximately 1,200 deaths across southern Israel and 251 people taken hostage. Despite the scale of the failure, there has been no independent state inquiry. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who was in charge at the time, has refused to take personal responsibility or order a state inquiry, instead blaming his security chiefs. He claims they deliberately did not wake him beforehand, fearing he would order a massive IDF deployment. Netanyahu has also denied reports, including one from Israel's Haaretz newspaper citing the UAE leader, that he was warned of Hamas plans prior to the attack. Former military officials and politicians are calling for a thorough investigation, with some suggesting Netanyahu's policy of containing Hamas contributed to the failure. The IDF's former chief of staff, Lt Gen Herzi Halevi, publicly apologized for the failure and resigned. Several military commanders were fired, and Israel's domestic intelligence chief left his position. Netanyahu's refusal to accept responsibility has become an election issue, with opposition leaders backing calls for a state commission of inquiry.
Our take
Three years after Hamas turned the border into a slaughterhouse, the only thing Israel's government has conclusively proven is that Benjamin Netanyahu's spine is a fucking ghost limb. The man wasn't just asleep at the wheel; he's now built an entire political career out of claiming his chauffeurs were too scared of his driving to wake him up. What a colossal, pants-shitting coward. His excuse is so pathetic it loops back around to being a self-own: he says his security chiefs feared he'd order a massive deployment if roused. So the official story is that Israel's leader is such a volatile, unpredictable dickhead that his own team would rather gamble with a massacre than risk his pre-dawn tantrum. That's not a defense, you prick - that's a psychiatric evaluation the whole country paid for in blood. While actual soldiers and spies - the IDF chief, the fired commanders, the intel boss - had the basic fucking decency to resign or apologize, Bibi is conducting a one-man seminar on how to use your own failure as a flotation device. He denies every warning, including one from the UAE, because admitting he knew would transform his narrative from 'negligent fool' to 'complicit cunt.' His brilliant policy of 'containing' Hamas meant letting the tumor metastasize until it burst through the front door, and now his only strategy is to contain the blame, shoveling it onto anyone with actual uniforms or a conscience. Demanding a state inquiry is an election issue because the opposition finally realized the greatest ongoing security threat isn't in Gaza - it's the smug, blame-deflecting void sitting in the Prime Minister's chair, treating a national trauma like a bad Yelp review he can argue about forever. The man is a human black hole of accountability; the only thing he's investigating is which mirror gives the most forgiving reflection of his legacy. He won't order an inquiry because he knows the final report would just be a single, underlined sentence: 'The fuckup was you.' Fuck off, Bibi. Your legacy is a ghost story told by grieving families, and the monster is your own reflection. You're not a leader; you're a fucking liability with a tie. Now get out of the way and let the adults look for the truth you buried under your mountain of bullshit.
