The facts
Israel's October 27 election is the first national vote since the October 7, 2023, Hamas-led attack, and both Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his political opponents have placed the assault at the core of their campaigns. According to AP, Netanyahu's critics hold his coalition responsible for the security failures that preceded the attack, while his defenders contend that the military establishment failed him. Netanyahu has rejected demands for an official inquiry into the events of October 7, instead attributing blame to security officials. He is noted by AP as the sole senior figure from the October 7th period who continues to hold office. Furthermore, Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Iranian government remain intact despite Netanyahu's promise of achieving 'total victory.' His main rival, former military chief Gadi Eisenkot, has pledged to initiate an inquiry into the attack if his party wins. AP's reporting suggests that pre-election polling indicates a tight contest.
Our take
Benjamin Netanyahu is running for re-election on a platform of having presided over the single greatest security failure in modern Israeli history, and his entire campaign strategy is to point at every uniform in the room and scream 'It was him!' The man is a political Houdini, if Houdini's act consisted of emerging from a flaming dumpster, declaring the fire a triumph, and then shitting on the firefighters for not using the right hose. His government got caught with its pants around its ankles on October 7th, but Bibi wants you to know it was actually the belt's fault. The military brass betrayed him, the intelligence cunts failed him - everyone is a traitor except the one dickhead who was actually in charge.
He’s the last senior fucker left standing from that day, a testament not to competence but to a preternatural talent for bureaucratic blame-jitsu. While Hamas leaders are still doing TV interviews and Hezbollah is still lobbing rockets, Bibi’s promised 'total victory' looks about as complete as a half-eired bag of shit. But don’t worry, he’s refused any inquiry, because why would you investigate a catastrophe when you can just keep pointing your geriatric finger at everyone else and fundraising off the corpses?
His opponent, Gadi Eisenkot, is at least promising an inquiry, which in the context of this clown show is the equivalent of promising to mop up after the elephant has already taken a massive piss all over the parliament. The polls say it’s close, which means a horrifying number of people look at this shitshow - the buck-passing, the un-victory, the sheer, staggering vanity of a man who thinks leadership is a synonym for 'last one to accept responsibility' - and think, 'Yes, more of that, please.' Netanyahu isn’t just a failed prime minister; he’s a human accountability deflector shield, a coward so potent he’s turned catastrophic failure into a campaign slogan. What a prick.
