The facts
South Carolina Representative Nancy Mace's former fiance, Patrick Bryant, and two associates, John Douglas Osborne and Eric Bernard Bowman, were charged with sex crimes and voyeurism on Wednesday. The charges relate to an incident that Mace detailed in a February 2025 speech on the House floor, where she discussed how crimes against women are not thoroughly investigated. According to sworn statements from state law enforcement agents, Osborne committed sex acts on a 23-year-old incapacitated and intoxicated woman while Mace's ex-fiance Bryant and Bowman watched. The men reportedly discussed the assault beforehand, took photos, and recorded the incident, which was also observed on a security system feed at a home in Sullivan's Island. Another woman who viewed the feed documented the assault. Mace and Bryant were not engaged at the time of the October 2018 assault. Osborne, 46, is charged with first-degree assault and battery and two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. Bryant, 53, and Bowman, 46, are each charged with voyeurism. Bowman also faces obstruction of justice charges for allegedly performing a factory reset on a phone investigators sought and for publishing the name of a victim of criminal sexual conduct online. Bryant has denied the allegations, stating he will cooperate with legal processes to clear his name. Mace stated she "accidentally uncovered some of the most heinous crimes against women imaginable" when she reviewed Bryant's phone. Following the arrests, Mace released a statement detailing legislative proposals aimed at protecting victims of sexual assault and harassment.
Our take
Nancy Mace, the Republican congresswoman from South Carolina, has finally put a face - three faces, actually - to the kind of vile, predatory shit she likes to grandstand about on the House floor. Her ex-fiancé and his two sick fuck buddies have been charged with crimes so appalling they read like a spec script for the darkest episode of *Law & Order: SVU* that never got made because it was too fucking bleak. According to the charges, John Douglas Osborne allegedly committed sex acts on a 23-year-old woman who was too drunk to know what was happening, while Mace's then-boyfriend, Patrick Bryant, and another prick, Eric Bernard Bowman, sat there and watched like it was a pay-per-view event. They reportedly discussed it first, took photos, and recorded the whole thing. They weren't just monsters; they were fucking archivists of their own monstrosity. The home security system was rolling, too, because why not have a multi-camera setup for your sex crimes? A real production. Another woman saw it on the feed and had to document the assault, because apparently the men involved were too busy being absolute cunts to call for help. Mace, who was not engaged to Bryant at the time, says she 'accidentally uncovered' this horror show while looking through his phone. Accidentally. Like finding an old receipt, not a fucking video library of a rape. Bryant, of course, denies it all, promising to 'clear his name.' Good luck with that, you voyeuristic piece of shit. Bowman, meanwhile, faces extra charges for allegedly factory-resetting a phone and then, in a move of such breathtaking, galaxy-brained cruelty, posting the victim's name and a video of her online. This fucker didn't just watch; he tried to weaponize the victim's trauma for the Twitter trolls. What a prince. Mace has now released a statement with legislative proposals. That's nice. Maybe start by never fucking dating a man who hangs out with guys who treat sexual assault as a group activity. The sheer, staggering lack of judgment is a cataract. These men are the walking, talking embodiment of the predatory behavior she claims to want to stop. The hypocrisy isn't just thick; it's a fucking septic tank. How do you 'accidentally' find evidence of your partner being a spectator to an alleged rape and not immediately call the cops and then burn every item he ever touched? The mind reels. This isn't a political scandal; it's a goddamn moral catastrophe with a congressional pin on its lapel.
