City leaders in Stockbridge, Georgia, have voted to remove Jayden Williams, 23, from his position as mayor. The decision followed an hours-long hearing concerning allegations that included inappropriate exchanges with an 18-year-old high school student, improper purchases on a municipal government-issued credit card, and mistreatment of employees. Williams, who took office in January, reportedly offered the teenager a city-backed internship and mentorship while also inquiring if they could be “friends with benefits.” During the council hearing, lawyer Robbie Ashe, representing Stockbridge investigators, questioned Williams about receiving nude photographs via text message. Williams responded that such communication was not abnormal for someone his age. The communications, which began after his election victory and were conducted on his personal phone, included sexually suggestive messages and explicit photos, according to Atlanta News First. Other allegations involved his use of a city-issued credit card for purchases such as movie tickets and items from Polo Factory and Pandora. Williams stated his credit card use was accidental, as the city card resembled his personal one, and that he had reimbursed the city. Investigators also accused him of creating a hostile work environment, including changing office locks and shouting at staff. Williams denied changing the locks, citing jammed keys. Stockbridge officials confirmed the mayor's removal, stating formal action was taken following applicable city processes. Williams' attorney expressed disappointment, stating the removal was not based on evidence. Interim Mayor Elton Alexander noted the decision was tough but stemmed from verified findings by an independent investigator, Richard Hyde, which demanded action.

Jayden Williams, the 23-year-old wunderkind, has been removed for the classic two-pronged approach to civic failure: treating the public purse like a personal Venmo for Pandora bracelets and treating the public high school like a personal Tinder for interns. His defense? The city card 'looked like' his personal one. Sure, and the 18-year-old he was sexting probably 'looked like' a viable political ally, not a fucking crime scene waiting for its subpoena. This is the guy who thought 'friends with benefits' was a legitimate line item in a municipal mentorship program. The city probably has a form for it: 'Request for Casual Sexual Relationship (Please slide under locked door).' Speaking of locks, his brilliant explanation for changing them wasn't about creating a hostile work environment - it was that the keys 'often jammed.' Right.
