According to PBS NewsHour, citing an Associated Press report, lawyers for Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook said a White House committee created last Friday to investigate an accusation against her is “demonstrably biased.” In a letter dated Tuesday to White House counsel William Scharf, attorney Abbe Lowell said Cook could not appear at a hearing scheduled for Nov. 5 because she will be conducting official duties at monetary‑policy meetings in Europe, and the earliest she could attend would be after the Fed’s Dec. 8‑9 policy meeting. The three‑member committee includes Kevin Hassett, a top Trump economic adviser who has already claimed the president has “cause” to fire Cook, Labor Secretary Keith Sonderling, and EEOC chair Andrea Rich, all Trump appointees. Trump has accused Cook of 2021 mortgage fraud, a claim she denies and for which no criminal charges have been filed. The Supreme Court earlier this year allowed Cook to remain in her position while litigation proceeds, noting the president may try again if proper notice and an opportunity to respond are provided. Under the Federal Reserve’s governing law, a president may fire a governor only “for cause.”

Cook's lawyers aren't having it, calling the setup 'demonstrably biased.' They've even got a valid excuse for skipping the shindig - she's busy doing actual work, like setting monetary policy in Europe, unlike some people who get to spend their days tweeting grievances. It's almost cute... if it weren't so fucking pathetic. Lowell's letter basically tells Scharf to stick his biased committee where the sun doesn't shine. Yeah, sure, Lisa Cook will show up... after she's done making real decisions, not just playing politics with a bunch of dickheads.
