Kabila Officially Merges His Ego With a Murderous Rebellion, Films the Paperwork

The ex-president has finally dropped the pretense, signing up to lead a coalition promising to end tyranny 'by all means, including force' from a rebel-held city.

The facts

Former Congolese President Joseph Kabila has been named the leader of a new rebel coalition, the Front for the Refoundation of the Nation (FRN), which seeks to oust the current government. The FRN stated its aim is to coordinate "resistance forces" to end "tyranny" in the Democratic Republic of Congo and that it would pursue this goal "by all means, including force." This announcement marks the clearest indication to date of Kabila's direct involvement in an armed movement. Kabila, who served as DR Congo president from 2001 until January 2019, had previously denied links to the M23 rebel group. The coalition's adviser, Claude Ibalanky, announced the leadership at a press conference at Kabila's residence in Goma, a city in eastern DR Congo controlled by M23 rebels. Video released by the FRN showed Kabila signing documents related to the group's declaration. M23 leader Sultani Makenga will be one of Kabila's four deputies in the new movement. The FRN's formation comes as Kabila has become increasingly critical of President Félix Tshisekedi's administration, accusing it of disregarding his proposals, undermining constitutional rule, mismanaging the economy, and failing to improve security. The Congolese government has not yet commented on the FRN's announcement or Kabila's recent accusations. The UN and Western governments accuse Rwanda of backing the M23, a claim Rwanda denies.

Our take

Well, well, well. Joseph Kabila, the former president who spent years with his dick in his hand pretending he had no links to the murderous M23 rebels, has finally decided to make it official. The absolute cunt has been named the leader of a brand new rebel coalition, the Front for the Refoundation of the Nation, which is a fancy name for 'the guys who want to shoot their way back into the palace.' His big announcement? Made from his fucking house in Goma, a city currently under the control of the very M23 goons he swore he didn't know. What a shocker. The sheer, staggering lack of shame is almost impressive. This grifter held the top job for 18 years, left the country in a shithole, and now, because the current guy won't take his memos, he's decided to 'refound the nation' by making the M23's head honcho one of his deputies. He didn't just jump into bed with the rebels, he put a ring on it and filmed the wedding video himself, signing documents like he's finalizing a fucking merger instead of a militia. So much for his delicate denials. Now he's just another warlord in a suit, holding a press conference in a conquered city to declare he'll use 'all means, including force' to stop 'tyranny.' The only tyranny here is the one his vanity is about to unleash on a country that's already been pissed on for decades. What a pathetic, power-hungry prick. The world's most predictable coup plot has now got a figurehead, and it's the guy who already had his turn. Someone get this clown a hobby that doesn't involve getting thousands of people killed for his ego. Fucking asshole. The gall to pose as a savior from the rubble his own legacy helped create is a special kind of bastardry. Congrats, Joe. You've officially become the problem you pretended to solve. Eat shit.
