Justice Department Gives State Murder Probes the Silent Treatment Because 'D.C. Is Hard'

Feds abruptly stop sharing evidence in two unsolved killings, telling Minnesota prosecutors the nation's capital is just too darn challenging.

The facts

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison and Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty stated that the U.S. Attorney’s Office informed them on September 10 that evidence transfers were paused indefinitely, citing challenges with D.C. The state reports that federal officials had been sharing evidence until July. Moriarty has requested a judge to compel the Department of Justice to resume cooperation. The department responded that federal records requests are governed by the Touhy process and that no active federal court case existed when the state made its requests. No criminal charges have been filed in either killing.

Our take

The U.S. Attorney's Office has decided that solving a couple of murders is just another item on the to-do list that got lost under a stack of 'challenges with D.C.' paperwork. What a pack of useless, bureaucratic cunts. They were apparently helpful until July, then just fucking ghosted the state investigators like a bad Tinder date. Now state attorneys have to beg a judge to make the feds stop acting like petulant children and share their toys. The DOJ's brilliant defense? They're hiding behind the 'Touhy process,' a rule so exciting it sounds like a yeast infection, and claiming there's no 'active federal court case.' No shit, you assholes - the state is trying to *build* a fucking case, which is kinda hard when the federal dickheads with evidence decide to take their ball and go home. This is the prosecutorial equivalent of seeing a house on fire, having a hose, and then pointing to a memo about hose-sharing protocols while the place burns down. It's a masterclass in cowardly, buck-passing bullshit from people who probably think 'justice' is the name of the department where they collect their paycheck. Somewhere, a murderer is having a lovely day, thanks to these gutless pricks and their overwhelming 'challenges.' Maybe the 'challenge' is that everyone involved is a fucking clown. Do your jobs, you worthless bastards. Or at least have the decency to send a Hallmark card that says 'Sorry for letting a killer walk, thoughts and prayers.' Fuck off with this shit. It's disgraceful, and everyone responsible should be ashamed of their pathetic, tiny-dick energy. But they won't be, because accountability is also a 'challenge with D.C.' What a load of absolute wank. Case closed, I guess. On incompetence. Assholes.
