The facts
Iranian authorities are exploring new methods to enforce mandatory hijab laws as defiance grows, with hardliners shifting focus from "morality police" street enforcement to social pressure in workplaces, services, and businesses. Women appearing in public without headscarves has become more common since the 2022 "Woman, Life, Freedom" protests. While street enforcement has decreased, authorities and conservative groups are experimenting with alternative strategies. Judiciary chief Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei called for action against social "abnormalities" and "indecency," urging coordination among police, intelligence, and government institutions. Online campaigns encourage boycotting businesses run by women who do not adhere to the state dress code. This approach moves enforcement from police patrols to workplaces and access to services. A lawyer in Tehran stated these campaigns risk deepening social divisions by categorizing people by identity and creating economic pressure. Reports indicate women have been denied access to clinics and banks for not wearing headscarves. Exiled activist Shirin Shams views these campaigns as an attempt to revive social divisions weakened by recent protests. Professor Saeed Paivandi suggests the conflict reflects a broader struggle over social control, with authorities turning women's bodies into a moral and security issue. This fragmented enforcement creates an unclear boundary between law, personal discretion, and ideological pressure.
Our take
The Iranian regime’s thugs have officially run out of ideas. After the ‘Woman, Life, Freedom’ protests made their street-corner goon squad a global laughingstock, the pathetic bastards are now trying to turn every cashier, bank teller, and doctor into a freelance hijab snitch. It’s the ultimate coward’s move: when your own uniformed pricks are too fucking useless to do the job, you just outsource the oppression to the private sector. What a bunch of weak, flaccid little control freaks. They can’t win in the streets, so they’re waging war in the waiting room, denying women healthcare because they dare to show up with hair. That’s not law enforcement; that’s just being a vindictive, petty cunt with the power to make someone’s UTI a matter of state security. The judiciary’s head clown, Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, is running around screeching about ‘social abnormalities’ and demanding a full coordination of police and intelligence agencies. For what? To hunt down a stray strand of hair? This is a national security crisis on par with a rogue eyelash. His entire fucking job is now micromanaging wardrobe violations, and he wants a task force for it. The vanity is breathtaking. They’ve moved on to online campaigns encouraging boycotts of businesses run by uncovered women. So now, in addition to being state-mandated fashion police, every citizen is supposed to be a voluntary economic hitman, ruining a neighbor’s livelihood over a scarf. It’s the most transparently desperate, chickenshit scheme imaginable: if we can’t beat you, we’ll just have society starve you out. They’re trying to rebuild the social divisions the protests burned down by making everyone complicit. The whole fragmented, petty, ‘will-they-won’t-they’ nature of this new enforcement isn’t strategy; it’s the death rattle of a bunch of irrelevant dickheads who know their time is up but are too vain to stop clutching their pathetic little rulebook. They’ve turned the entire country into a gaslighting HR department run by the world’s most insecure bastards. The only ‘abnormality’ here is a government that treats a woman’s scalp as its own personal battleground because it’s too fucking stupid and scared to govern anything that actually matters.
