The facts
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian declared that the United States must lift sanctions and cease threats before negotiations can commence, attributing regional instability and disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz to American "warmongering." Speaking in Tehran alongside Pakistan’s army chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, Pezeshkian stated that all regional problems stem from U.S. actions. Iran's Supreme National Security Council secretary, Maj. Gen. Mohsen Rezaei, echoed these sentiments, asserting that "not a single gram" of enriched uranium would leave Iran and that talks require Washington to rebuild trust and meet Iran's conditions. Rezaei also posted on X that negotiations would not occur until the U.S. takes steps to build trust, beginning with the full fulfillment of Iran's conditions. Separately, British counterterrorism police re-arrested two men on suspicion of assisting Iranian intelligence in a suspected plot targeting RAF Fairford, with police considering Iranian state involvement highly likely, an allegation denied by Iran's ambassador to the U.K.
Our take
The Iranian government, a world-class consortium of sanctimonious pricks, has laid out its terms for diplomacy: America must first crawl through a mile of broken glass, lick every sanction off the floor, and promise to never, ever be a ‘warmonger’ again. Only then might President Masoud Pezeshkian, the man blaming all the region’s shit on Washington while standing next to Pakistan’s army chief for a cute photo-op, consider gracing the world with his negotiation skills. What a generous fucking offer from a regime whose other top official, Maj. Gen. Mohsen Rezaei, is busy posting on X that not a single gram of enriched uranium will be leaving the clubhouse. That’s not a bargaining position; that’s a toddler hiding his toys and screaming that nobody can play until they bring him a new juice box - a juice box filled with billions in unfrozen assets, you understand. The trust-building they demand is a one-way street paved with American concessions leading directly to a uranium-enriched dead end. They want the U.S. to ‘rebuild trust’ by unilaterally disarming its entire foreign policy, a move about as likely as Pezeshkian admitting his own fucking Revolutionary Guard might share some blame for the Strait of Hormuz getting a bit fucky. Meanwhile, British cops are re-arresting guys suspected of helping Iranian intelligence plot against an RAF base - a coincidence about as likely as Pezeshkian’s speech being a heartfelt ode to peace. The ambassador denies it, of course, because the entire Iranian MO is to shit on the table and then act offended by the smell. So here’s the state of play: a regime that sponsors instability, stockpiles nuclear fuel, allegedly plots attacks on allies, and then has the galaxy-sized balls to issue a list of pre-conditions for talks. They’re not diplomats; they’re extortionists in suits, holding the region hostage and demanding a ransom paid in lifted sanctions and groveling apologies. The only thing more enriched than their uranium is their fucking audacity. They want trust? They can start by not being a pack of lying, plotting, grievance-hoarding cunts. Good luck with that. Until then, they can take their terms and shove them right up the Strait of Hormuz.
