The facts
The Law Enforcement Conduct Commission (Lecc) opened an inquiry on Monday into the February protest at Sydney’s Town Hall against Israeli President Isaac Herzog’s visit. The commission says the protest was “largely peaceful” and that there is “limited evidence of physical violence on the part of the protesters.” Lecc is examining police use of OC spray, allegations of “police boasting about gratuitous force,” and the now‑unconstitutional Public Assembly Restriction Declaration that barred marching. Video footage showed officers punching several demonstrators and grabbing Muslim worshippers during sunset prayers. Counsel assisting Kirsten Edwards SC noted that later protest conduct described as aggressive was “for the most part verbal and connected to a desire to march,” and that organisers attempted to defuse tension. Police initially charged about 30 people, but nearly a dozen of those charges have since been withdrawn. The inquiry is reviewing roughly 400 complaints and 1,000 hours of video evidence.
Our take
So the NSW Police Force’s idea of public order is to treat a peaceful assembly like a fucking piñata and then high-five each other over the mess. The LECC inquiry into February’s Town Hall protest reveals a masterclass in state-sponsored cuntishness, where the only violence with 'limited evidence' was coming from the twats in uniform. Cops weren't just breaking up a demo; they were starring in their own shitty action movie, complete with punch-ups, pepper-spray scenes, and post-beatdown locker room banter about 'gratuitous force.' What a bunch of heroic bastards. They saw Muslim worshippers in sunset prayer and decided the appropriate response was a good old-fashioned grab-and-grope. They looked at people chanting and holding signs and concluded the situation demanded a fist. The 'aggression' they were supposedly quelling? According to the inquiry, it was 'for the most part verbal and connected to a desire to march.' In other words, the biggest threat was someone asking, 'Can we walk that way please?' Fucking terrifying. These dickheads then hid behind a Public Assembly Restriction Declaration - a rule so legally flimsy it was later ruled unconstitutional - to justify their little festival of violence. They slapped charges on about thirty people like confetti, then had to sheepishly withdraw nearly a dozen when even their own clown-show evidence couldn't hold up. Now the commission is wading through 400 complaints and a thousand hours of video, which is just a fancy way of saying there's a mountain of footage documenting these pricks being pricks. The only thing more gratuitous than the force was the boasting about it afterwards. It's not policing; it's a bunch of insecure cunts with badges and a collective hard-on for bullying, treating public dissent as their personal sparring session. What a pathetic, violent, and deeply embarrassing display from a force that apparently confuses keeping the peace with starting a fight and then jerking itself off over the win. Absolute fucking losers.
