The move followed President Donald Trump’s recent cuts to the civilian Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). CISA had released an election‑infrastructure security plan the week before, offering services to state and local officials. Election‑security specialist David Becker said the compressed timeline made the announcement look like “just theater.”
