Fintech Founder Kept Two Sets of Books and Texted an Employee to 'Make It Add to More Than 15m+'

The SEC says Gökçe Güven raised $6.7 million for her startup Kalder by showing investors one set of fake financials while her bookkeeper kept the real ones. She inflated revenue by nearly 400%, counted pilot programs as customers, and has already pleaded guilty to criminal fraud for the same shit.

The facts

The Securities and Exchange Commission has filed a complaint in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York against Gökçe Güven and Kalder, Inc. The case is 26 Civ. 8716, and the complaint was filed on October 2, 2026. Güven was the founder, chief executive officer, and largest shareholder of Kalder, a fintech startup she described to investors as offering a partner rewards platform that would enable high-frequency or high-fandom businesses to replicate the Amex or United Airlines rewards. During the period in question, Kalder had fewer than ten employees, and Güven exercised close control over all aspects of the company, including fundraising.

According to the Commission, beginning in approximately April 2024 and continuing through at least December 2024, Güven raised approximately $6,705,000 from at least fifteen investors in a Round B seed offering. To do it, the complaint alleges, Kalder and Güven made false and misleading statements about the company’s financial performance by providing investors with inflated revenue streams and overstating the number of customers engaged in revenue-generating contracts.

The mechanism was blunt: Kalder maintained two sets of financial records. One set was prepared and maintained by Kalder’s third-party bookkeeper based on financial statements from Kalder’s financial institutions. The second set contained inflated numbers created and shared with investors at Güven’s direction, and was even falsely marked as though it had been prepared by the outside bookkeeper. The offering documents told investors Kalder’s revenue was steadily increasing month-over-month with an aggregate of approximately $333,337 for May 2023 through April 2024. The actual profit and loss statement showed approximately $87,960. A later spreadsheet covering May through August 2024 claimed an aggregate of approximately $363,670; the real number was approximately $92,587.

Customers got the same treatment. The pitch deck asserted that approximately 26 brands were using Kalder, but many had not actually entered into an agreement with the company, and others had entered only into pilot programs for a limited period while paying significantly discounted fees. The deck also falsely claimed annual recurring revenue had grown to over $1.2 million by March 2024.

Then there is the pipeline. On April 10, 2024, a prospective investor asked Güven to add top line figures to a sales pipeline reflecting anticipated customers. The next day, the complaint alleges, Güven messaged a Kalder sales team member and instructed the employee to add top line figures in the pipeline and make it add to more than 15m+, emphasizing that it has to add to more than 15m ARR.

The complaint also notes that on May 15, 2026, Güven pleaded guilty to one count of securities fraud in United States v. Güven, 25-cr-00592-LAK-SN (S.D.N.Y.), arising from substantially similar facts to those alleged in the civil case.

Our take

Here’s a fucking masterclass in grifter-level laziness from a CEO who thought the only difference between a real business and a fake one was having two separate fucking Excel files. Gökçe Güven didn’t just cook the books; she maintained a whole goddamn parallel universe of financials, like some pathetic asshole running a scammy dinner theater where the real receipts are backstage and the fake ones are on the menu. She had a third-party bookkeeper doing the actual work based on bank statements, and then she just whipped up a second, completely bullshit set of numbers, even slapping the bookkeeper’s fake signature on it. That’s not a startup, you cunt; that’s a forgery operation with a pitch deck.

The numbers themselves are a fucking joke told by a clown. She told investors the company made $333,337 over a year. The real number was $87,960. She was inflating revenue by almost 400 percent, which isn’t optimism, it’s pathological lying with a calculator. Then she did it again: claimed $363,670 for a later period when the truth was $92,587. This bitch wasn’t just seeing a different reality; she was actively building a financial funhouse where every mirror makes your dick look bigger, provided you’re stupid enough to invest millions based on the reflection.

And the customers? Oh, fuck off. Her deck said 26 brands were using Kalder. The truth is many hadn’t signed a goddamn thing, and others were on pilot programs paying peanuts. Claiming a pilot program as a full customer is like calling a one-night stand a marriage because you split an Uber. She also claimed annual recurring revenue was over $1.2 million. That’s a number you pull out of your ass when you need to sound like a real CEO instead of a fraudster with ten employees and a dream she can’t finance without lies.

But the pure, uncut essence of this shitshow is the pipeline text. An investor asks for some top-line figures. What does our genius CEO do? She doesn’t go check the sales pipeline. She fucking messages a sales employee and gives the most braindead directive in corporate fraud: add top line figures in the pipeline and make it add to more than 15m+, stressing “it has to add to more than 15m ARR.” Not please update the forecast, not let’s see what’s realistic. Just make the number big. That’s the managerial equivalent of a kid stuffing their pants with socks and hoping nobody notices the bulge is made of cotton. She was literally directing the fraud via text, like a micromanaging dickhead who can’t even be bothered to hide the crime.

And the cherry on this shit sundae? She already pleaded guilty to criminal securities fraud for the same fucking scheme. The SEC’s civil case is the encore, because when you’re this much of a greedy, talentless cunt, one legal ass-fucking apparently isn’t enough. She built a company on two sets of books, and now she gets to enjoy two sets of lawsuits. What a perfect, pathetic symmetry for a founder whose entire legacy is a fictional financial statement and a guilty plea.

The VA Wrote Down That Late Surgery Packs Could Cancel Veterans' Surgeries, Then Said Getting Them Faster Had "no value"

The Court of Federal Claims just ordered the VA to redo its $98.5 million sterile-procedure-pack solicitation. The agency shopped by lowest price technically acceptable, wrote into its own acquisition plan that late packs could delay or cancel surgeries, and then told the court a faster delivery plan was worth "no value" to it. Senior Judge Loren A. Smith was not buying it.
