Energy Secretary’s Own Website Posts Damning Critique of Cruel Migration Policy, Then Claims It Was ‘Paraphrased’

Miatta Fahnbulleh’s constituency site said her colleague’s plan to make people wait decades to belong would ‘prolong cohesion.’ Her office’s fix was to delete the truth.

The facts

Energy Secretary Miatta Fahnbulleh appears to have voiced concerns about Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood's proposed migration policy, suggesting that extending the qualifying period for settlement in the UK could "prolong the process of building cohesion." These remarks were initially posted on Fahnbulleh's constituency website, detailing comments made at a September community meeting. Her office has since stated that the post was not a true representation of her views and that the remarks had been paraphrased. The government has proposed increasing the standard qualifying period for indefinite leave to remain from five to 10 years, with potential concessions for certain professions. The pathway to permanent settlement for refugees could be extended to up to 20 years. Fahnbulleh, who came to the UK as a child refugee, admitted in a previous interview that Mahmood's proposed changes would be "tough" for her constituency, which has a diverse immigrant population. She has advocated for a more compassionate immigration system that balances control with integration, emphasizing the contributions of migrants. The government has not yet published its final response to the consultation on these proposals, though Prime Minister Andy Burnham has indicated commitment to the majority of the changes. Other cabinet members, like Housing Secretary Angela Rayner, have also expressed reservations about the potential impact on essential workers.

Our take

Well, shit. It seems Energy Secretary Miatta Fahnbulleh accidentally told the truth about her government’s own monstrous, cuntish migration policy, and now her flunkies are scrambling to memory-hole it. Her own fucking website posted details from a community meeting where she reportedly said making people wait up to 20 years for settlement would ‘prolong the process of building cohesion.’ No shit, Sherlock. Telling people they’re guests for two decades tends to put a damper on the welcome party vibe. It’s the political equivalent of a landlord installing a bedbug colony and then wondering why the tenants aren’t ‘integrating’ with the little fuckers. Then her office, caught with its pants down, squealed that the remarks were ‘paraphrased’ and not a ‘true representation.’ Translation: ‘We posted the truth, but the truth makes us look like absolute bastards, so pretend you didn’t read it.’ This is the political class’s go-to move: do something unspeakably cruel, get caught admitting it’s unspeakably cruel, and then claim the admission was a typo. Fahnbulleh, a former child refugee, knows exactly how ‘tough’ this bullshit is, which makes her silent complicity now even more of a cowardly betrayal. She’s advocating for ‘compassion’ with one side of her mouth while the government she serves in drafts plans that would treat refugees like perpetually unpacked suitcases. And Housing Secretary Angela Rayner is also ‘concerned’? Brilliant. The cabinet is a circle of hand-wringing ghouls, meticulously designing a torture rack and then writing polite memos about whether the straps might chafe. Prime Minister Andy Burnham is ‘committed’ to this majority of changes, which means he’s committed to a policy where the only thing ‘indefinite’ is the state-sanctioned limbo. They’re not building cohesion, they’re building a fucking prison yard, and now they’re trying to erase the blueprints from their own website. Pathetic. Utterly, despicably pathetic. Fuck every last one of them. They don’t want cohesion; they want a permanent underclass they can pretend doesn’t exist until election season. Cunts. Absolute cunts. The only thing they’ve integrated is a profound talent for hypocrisy and a cowardly allergy to their own stated principles.
