The facts
Senator Chris Murphy, D-Conn., revealed on X that he met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) on Monday during a trip to the Middle East. Murphy stated that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss ending the war in Iran and establishing a pathway to a Palestinian state. He acknowledged past disagreements with Saudi leadership, including concerns over investments in President Donald Trump's businesses and the country's role in the region. Murphy emphasized the importance of political dialogue and stated that Saudi Arabia's cooperation is crucial for achieving a permanent end to the war with Iran and the establishment of a Palestinian state. He noted that while no conclusions were reached, it was important for MBS to hear perspectives from those seeking a different path for Saudi Arabia. Notably, Murphy did not mention Jamal Khashoggi, a journalist murdered in 2018, for whose killing Murphy had previously demanded accountability from the Saudi government. Murphy's trip also included meetings in Qatar with figures like Ali Al Thawadi and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, focusing on the Iran war's regional impact and Qatar's role as a mediator and U.S. ally.
Our take
Well, well, well. Look who decided to take a little field trip to the kingdom of bonesaws and bullshit. Senator Chris Murphy, the Connecticut windbag who once huffed and puffed about ‘accountability’ for the state-sponsored murder of Jamal Khashoggi, just got his passport stamped by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. And what did they talk about? Not the journalist who was lured into a consulate and dismembered like a Ikea bookshelf. No, that’s just ancient history, a little oopsie-daisy from 2018. They discussed ‘ending the war in Iran’ and a ‘pathway to a Palestinian state.’ Because nothing says ‘credible peacemaker’ like a powwow with a paranoid, homicidal rich kid who treats dissenters as a recycling project.
Murphy’s big revelation on X is a masterclass in political amnesia. He ‘acknowledged past disagreements,’ which is like saying you ‘had a difference of opinion’ with a guy who set your dog on fire. He’s worried about Saudi investments in Trump’s businesses? That’s the hill he wants to die on? Not the fucking bone fragments in a Turkish forest? The senator’s entire post reads like a press release from a used-car salesman who just sold a lemon to the widow of the last guy he ran over.
The absolute gall of this prick. He says it’s ‘important for MBS to hear perspectives from those seeking a different path.’ The ‘different path’ apparently involves politely ignoring that you’re sitting across from a thug who uses diplomatic immunity as a coupon for dismemberment. Murphy’s ‘political dialogue’ is the equivalent of asking a serial arsonist for tips on fire safety, then praising him for not setting the meeting room ablaze.
So congratulations, Senator. You’ve officially graduated from being a useless critic to a willing prop in the royal PR circus. You didn’t just forget to mention Khashoggi; you deep-sixed him in a mental dumpster so you could play statesman with his killer. Hope the conversation was worth the price of your soul, you gutless, grandstanding cunt.
