The facts
Violent clashes between Albanian protesters and riot police have entered their seventh day, with official figures indicating 295 people injured, including 186 police officers. Prime Minister Edi Rama stated that the state has fallen if it negotiates with such actions, brandishing a rock thrown at police. Protests, driven by demands for improved university conditions, anti-corruption sentiment, and calls for Rama's resignation, have seen police stations and government buildings attacked in Tirana. Rama claimed protesters were radicalized by "dark forces" and that Albania is a target of a coordinated attack. Human rights lawyer Gentian Sejrani, providing legal support to over 100 arrested individuals, described police actions as "chaotic and stupid," noting that evidence is rarely presented in court and those throwing objects often evade capture. Activist Sidorela Vatnikaj, a master's student, described coordinating protest efforts and expressed understanding for protesters' anger, blaming police for escalating violence. She stated that young people feel inspired by global Gen Z protesters and that her generation has not seen the democratic society their parents dreamed of. Rama, in power for 13 years, has promised EU membership by 2030.
Our take
After seven days of his country's youth beating the shit out of his police force, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has finally produced a piece of evidence: one (1) fucking rock. This absolute clown held it up like it was the fucking Hope Diamond, proving that, yes, when you govern like a corrupt, out-of-touch prick for thirteen years, people will eventually pick up geology and throw it at your head. His big-brain analysis? The state has 'fallen' if it talks to the rabble. No, you dickhead, the state has fallen when its leader is such a coward he has to hide behind a squad of riot shields and blame imaginary 'dark forces' instead of the very real, very pissed-off master's students he's been shitting on for over a decade. He's promising EU membership by 2030, which is hilarious, because his current application seems to be for the 'Fragile Ego of the Year' award. His police are so 'chaotic and stupid,' according to a lawyer dealing with the 100-plus arrests, that they can't even catch the people throwing the rocks they keep whining about. They just grab whoever's nearby, a perfect metaphor for Rama's entire governance style: blame the closest available citizen. Activist Sidorela Vatnikaj nailed it: her generation hasn't seen the democracy their parents dreamed of, they've seen Edi Rama's face on a poster for thirteen fucking years while he pretends a handful of gravel is a national security crisis. The only 'coordinated attack' here is Rama's coordinated attack on his own country's future, and the kids are just returning fire with the only ammunition left - street cobbles and sheer, unadulterated contempt. Maybe if he spent less time brandishing rocks and more time fixing the universities they're protesting about, he wouldn't need to worry about his skull meeting one. The man isn't a statesman; he's a cunt holding a stone, wondering why everyone's throwing them back. 295 injured, and the biggest baby of them all is the one in the prime minister's office with a new security blanket made of igneous rock. Grow the fuck up, Edi. Or better yet, fuck off. Your rock collection won't save you from the tide of history, or a really determined student with a good arm. You absolute joke of a man.
