The facts
On Wednesday, Alabama, Arkansas, and Louisiana initiated legal action by filing a lawsuit directly with the U.S. Supreme Court. The plaintiffs, led by their respective attorneys general, are challenging the abortion 'shield' laws of three Democratic-led states: California, Massachusetts, and New York. These shield laws are designed to protect healthcare providers who prescribe abortion pills, often via telehealth, and facilitate their delivery across state lines. The attorneys general of the three Republican-led states contend that these protective measures undermine their states' existing abortion bans and violate their state sovereignty. According to AP reporting, this marks the first instance of one state or a coalition of states directly suing others over such shield laws. The Supreme Court possesses the authority to hear disputes between states, though it seldom exercises this original jurisdiction. New York Attorney General Letitia James stated that the challenging states aim to extend their abortion prohibitions into New York and penalize physicians for offering legally permissible medical care. In a related action, the three states have also filed separate lawsuits against 30 healthcare providers and their officers, alleging misconduct such as false advertising.
Our take
Well, look at this pathetic little parade of absolute cunts. Alabama, Arkansas, and Louisiana, having successfully turned their own jurisdictions into medieval torture chambers for anyone with a uterus, have now toddled up to the Supreme Court to whine that other states aren't playing along with their sadistic little game. They filed a lawsuit directly to the highest court because their own laws are so fucking weak and provincial they can't reach past their own shit-stained borders. The sheer, unadulterated gall of these pricks. They want to sue New York, California, and Massachusetts for having the basic human decency to protect doctors who mail abortion pills to people trapped in their theocratic hellholes. These shield laws exist precisely because of cowardly, power-hungry dickheads like the attorneys general of these three states, who think their personal religious hang-ups should dictate medical care for the entire fucking country. It's the legal equivalent of a toddler throwing a tantrum because the kids in the other sandbox have better toys and won't let him piss in them. They're not just trying to enforce their bans; they're trying to export their misogynistic bullshit. They want to punish doctors in New York for doing their jobs legally in New York because it makes the Alabama AG's tiny dick feel even smaller. And let's not ignore the separate, petty-as-fuck lawsuits they filed against thirty healthcare providers for 'false advertising.' What's the falsehood? 'Help is available'? That must really chap their asses. The whole strategy is a confession of pathetic, impotent rage. Their laws are so unpopular and medically bankrupt they can't survive on their own merits, so they have to try to sue anyone who offers a lifeline. They're like three schoolyard bullies who've cornered a kid, only to start crying to the principal when another kid throws them a snack. The Supreme Court should tell these whining bastards to go fuck themselves with the dusty, unused law books they based their abortion bans on. Original jurisdiction exists for actual disputes between states, not for this performative, culture-war shitfitting by a coalition of losers who can't stand that freedom exists anywhere. They want a national ban so badly they're willing to turn the Supreme Court into their own personal complaint department. It's a stunning display of vanity and authoritarian small-dick energy. The only shield law needed is one protecting the rest of the union from these toxic, freedom-hating assholes.
